Catholic School Ministry
For decades now in the United States, Catholic Schools have demonstrated themselves to be unique places of Catholic education and Christian formation. That tradition continues in the Diocese of Spokane and, more specifically, here at Assumption Parish in Spokane.
The word "Parish" in our school's official title Assumption Parish School reflects a core element of its identity and mission. Although a religious or private school by secular standards, our parish school is associated intimately with the life and vitality of our Catholic community of faith. Our school is an extension of who we are as a parish. Along with other significant parish ministries, Assumption Parish School participates responsibly in our shared mission.
In that light, Catholic School ministry works when the Faith received through the Church and celebrated in its sacraments (especially the Sunday Eucharist) is practiced by individual members and families in the home and school environment. The school does not take the place of the parish or the home; it supports and supplements them. As responsible baptized adults who are engaged in a faith community, parents are the primary educators of their children in the way of faith. That means that their responsibility far exceeds the mere choice of a school for their children to attend. It places on their shoulders the serious responsibility of collaborating with the Church and its efforts at formation in the Faith. The proper integration of a faith life at the level of parish, home and school presents a constant and real challenge.
Guided by this principle of shared responsibility, Assumption Parish is committed to its Catholic School ministry. The mission of its school reflects the challenge of this integration. We embrace that challenge with faith and steadfast courage - and invite all those who participate in our school ministry to embrace it as well.
My God bless and guide our efforts.

A Message From Our Principal
Carmen Himenes Ed.D, Principal
Welcome to Assumption Parish School.
We are a Catholic school serving northwest Spokane since 1959. We are accredited by the Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA).
Our school has highly qualified teachers and staff who offer an excellent learning environment in the Light of the Gospel. We strive for academic excellence, the building of a faith community, and a safe, welcoming environment.
We are fortunate to have small class sizes that allow teachers to address the individual needs of students. Teachers work with students to reach their potential and lead them to new challenges. Our students are taught to think critically in viewing and serving our world. Our graduates are prepared for any high school of their choice and often excel in the core areas of study.
We are an extension of the Assumption Parish ministry to teach the good news of Jesus Christ. This unique mission builds a special faith community. In our school, parents are supported in their faith, which enriches their family life.
We are always open and welcoming to anyone who desires a Catholic education. Please stop by anytime and visit with us.
Sincerely,
Carmen Himenes, Ed.D.
